Over the years, the electrical industry has seen rapid growth. The energy consumption of Australia rose by 0.6% to reach 6,196 petajoules (PJ) in 2018–19. On an average, the past ten years have seen a growth of 0.7%.

In 2018–19, fossil fuels (coal, oil, and gas) accounted for 94% of Australian primary energy sources. 39% of Australia’s primary energy mix in 2018-19 was from oil. The next largest contribution came from coal (29%), followed by natural gas (26%). And 6% of the electricity was generated from renewable sources.

During the forecast period of 2020-2025, the Australian renewable energy market is expected to grow more than 8% annually. Domestic solar energy has witnessed rapid acceptance in the years (2018 and 2019), and it is expected to continue to grow due to factors such as supportive government policies and the pressure to meet the power demand through renewable energy sources.

Growing need for manpower in the field

Clearly, there is a high demand for skilled and qualified individuals in Australia. Additionally, it suggests that electricians and electrical engineers should be open to relocation. There is a surge in job openings for site engineers and electrical foremen across the country. In the construction and real estate market, electrical systems are expected to become more crucial as the market continues to grow.

With the rapid growth of the electrical industry, a need for qualified professionals will continue to rise. Students who complete our nationally recognized electrical courses in Australia will be able to earn higher wages and receive a variety of employment options because they will acquire the skills in demand in the industry.

Advantages of completing electrical-based courses

A career in this field will always be relevant, no matter what the industry. Here are some reasons why studying electrical certification courses has limitless benefits –

  • Electricity courses cover a wide range of topics. All of these other branches must be studied with equal emphasis on your primary subjects, diversifying your knowledge base.
  • The power sector will never lose its value, which means your niche industry will always be in demand. With each passing day, the demand for more and better power supply only increases.
  • Electrical courses are irreplaceable. Since you are valuable to the company, both your starting salary and increment salary can often be higher than those in other fields, making this field even more popular.
  • Future opportunities are opened by the rise of subsectors. An excellent example is the field of renewable energy. A lot of electrical companies are focused on improving renewable technologies and require skilled engineers to handle the task. Your expertise can be invaluable for such endeavours.

Electrical courses by Project Management Vision

Electrical technicians and manpower are in constant demand as the electrical industry grows. We at Project Management Vision (PMV) make you competent in the field by bringing an efficient team to the table.

PMV offers three electrical certification courses under its electrical course.

1) PLC Automation Short Course – Basic

The training is intended for electricians, electrical maintenance personnel, and design engineers who need to familiarize themselves with programmable controllers and automation technologies that are used in building construction and industrial automation. Specifically, this will be for the following technologies, with purpose-built instrumentation skids/facilities and PLC control systems that can interoperate with HART compliant field instruments under the electrical instrumentation course.

Training is delivered for five days at one of PMV’s training centres (Perth, Karratha, Adelaide), or a client’s facility.

2) PLC Training – Automation Short Course (Advanced)

Taking this PLC Automation Course (Advanced) allows candidates to enhance and gain an understanding of PLC and process control. This course includes subjects such as:

  • Sequencer design and programming techniques.
  • Tools for monitoring and tracking data.
  • Integrating safety functions into the control system.
  • Downloading, testing, and finding faults PLC program on PLC hardware.

A five-day course is delivered at PMV’s national training centres in Perth and Adelaide or a client’s facility.

3) UEE62111 Advanced Diploma of Engineering Technology – Electrical

A diploma in engineering technology provides competencies required for the assessment and management of risks, the design, validation/evaluation, and audit of electrical equipment, instrumentation, and control systems installed in hazardous areas of the chemical, mineral processing, and petroleum industries. Moreover, it helps students become proficient in a variety of fields:

  • Developing engineering specifications and project briefs for electrical engineering projects
  • Increasing understanding of how processing plant architectures are constructed
  • Explosion-proofing of electrical systems and installations in gas or dust atmospheres/ pressurized environments/ coal mining
