OBJECTIVE

This competency-based training program provides ability to write, test and troubleshoot PLC programs for sequential process applications using the Allan Bradley Micrologix 500 controllers and RSlogix Software. Functional requirements include operator control, status indication, alarms, and equipment maintenance policy. 

Target Workforce

This course is designed for electricians, electrical technicians, maintenance personnel, and machine design engineers and those who need to or wish to familiarise themselves with sequence control, process data and safety applications.

Not Applicable 

(Preference is Electrical License)

Training Content  

You will undergo one on one practical training with industry experienced, qualified Instrument and Electrical Professional Trainers. This training will be delivered on a purpose-built instrumentation skid/ facilities Allen Bradley PLC Control System and covers: 

  • Introduction to programmable controllers 

  • Controller hardware (PS, CPU, signal modules)
  • Memory concepts, organisation and addressing
  • Basic data types (Boolean, Integer, Real, String)
  • Program digital and analog PLC.
  • Ladder Diagram (LD) programming languages
  • Structured programming with function blocks
  • Program elements include comparator, move, timer, counter, jump, shift registers and increment/decrement functions
  • Functional blocks Scaling and Un-scaling blocks
  • Integration of HMI touchpanel devices
  • Using simulation tools for testing programs
  • Download, test and fault find PLC program on PLC hardware

OUTCOME

The following units of competency will be issued to a student who successfully completed the units including its prerequisites.

UEECD0007 Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace (CT with EL) # 
UEEIC0013Develop, enter and verify discrete control programs for programmable controllers
UEEIC0015 Develop, enter and verify word and analogue control programs for programmable logic controllers
