This qualification provides competencies to plan and design installation of electrical equipment in hazardous areas (EEHA) to AS/NZS standards 4761 and 60079.10.0 and 1.
Delivered at one of PMV’s national training centres (Perth, Brisbane & Adelaide), or at a client’s facility.
This course is our “engineering level” course, intended for electrical and instrumentation designers working in hazardous area industries. It focusses on equipment selection and installation design and documentation, including intrinsically safe system verification and maximum power dissipation calculations for increased safety installations.
Candidates for this course must be able to demonstrate existing electrical or instrumentation design competency. This is best done by providing a CV and examples of design documents (e.g. electrical drawings, schedules, specifications etc.) that the candidate has produced. An electrical engineering degree or diploma is desirable, but not essential.
You will undergo theory and hands on practical training with qualified industry experienced trainers who are all currently practicing in the chemical, mineral processing and oil and gas facility. The course covers the following topics:
- Properties of explosive gases/vapours and combustible dusts
- Protection techniques and Equipment selection
- General design principles
- Earthing requirements
- EX i entity calculations
- EX e motor protection and cable derating requirements
- Maximum dissipated power calculations
PMV offers a small size class with flexible training to accommodate difficult rosters / work schedules.
Blended delivery of 40% theory and 60% practical training in a range of activities including some group classification and design work that you are likely to see in a typical industrial installation with electrical equipment in hazardous areas (EEHA).
