Full qualification – UEE50411 Diploma of Electrical Engineering
The following students will be entitled to the full qualification who:

  • hold an unrestricted electrical license issued by a state or Territory
  • are fully competent in both theoretical and practical training having completed all units of competency in the training package (refer http://training.gov.au/Training/Details/UEE50411).

This qualification provides competencies to:

  • develop, select, commission, audit, maintain and diagnose faults or malfunctions on advanced electrical equipment,
  • solve electrical problems with complex circuits in a variety of industrial installations in the mineral processing and oil and gas industry.

It includes ERAC requirements for an ‘Electrician’s licence’

Delivered at one of PMV’s national training centres (Perth), or at a client’s facility.

This post-trade professional development gap training is aimed at those keen participants, who have completed UEE42611 Certificate IV in Hazardous Areas – Electrical and/ or UEE40411 Certificate IV in Electrical – Instrumentation and those who are keen on learning and gaining electrical engineering competencies at the next level of complexity.

This course is for anyone involved in “managing integrity and compliance” of the site electrical installation to local regulation, i.e. design, project engineering specification, inspection and auditing.

The course creates a pathway to become a Technical Authority and Team Leader responsible for ensuring compliance of the site electrical equipment to local regulations and latest AS/NZS standards.

Electricians and instrument technicians in supervisory roles are the most common attendees.

The course is post-trade training, so we require a current unrestricted electrical license (any Australian state or territory).

You will undergo one-on-one practical training with industry-experienced and qualified Instrument and Electrical Professional Trainers in the following areas on the purpose-built hazardous areas and instrumentation skids/ facilities with HART compliant field instruments and Siemens and Allen Bradley PLC Control System:

  • Write specification for projects – electrotechnology
  • Estimate electrotechnology projects
  • Prepare tender submissions for electrotechnology projects
  • Provide solutions to basic engineering computational problems
  • Evaluate performance of low voltage electrical apparatus
  • Program digital and analog PLC. Download, test and fault find PLC program on PLC hardware
  • Configure, maintain and diagnose faults/malfunctions in industrial control system networks (Optional)
  • Conduct audit of hazardous areas installations — gas atmospheres
  • Develop and implement energy sector maintenance programs
  • Ensure team effectiveness and facilitate continuous improvement

PMV offers a small size class with flexible training to accommodate difficult rosters / work schedules.

Blended delivery of 40% theory and 60% practical training with equipment that you are likely to see in a typical industrial environment in hazardous areas with HART rated instrumentation with PLC control system.
* Self-study time (roughly 5-6 weeks) is required in addition to PMV face-to-face training of 18 days.
