OBJECTIVE

  • To enhance students’ professional development skills in industrial networking connecting more than one PLC with HMI, with multiple loops in a live process plant
  • To broaden knowledge in understanding how processing plant architectures are put together
  • To write up plant control philosophy and project engineering specification
  • To open more doors for you in areas of instrumentation and control technical authority and supervisory roles

Training Content

You will undergo one-on-one practical training with industry experienced, qualified Instrument and Electrical Professional Trainers in the following areas on the purpose-built instrumentation and control system skids/ facilities with HART compliant field instruments and Siemens and Allen Bradley PLC Control System:

  • 1. Configure, maintain and diagnose faults/malfunctions in industrial control system network
  • 2. Draw processing plant architectures and write up plant control philosophy
  • 3. Write specification for projects – electrotechnology
  • 4. Pressure (suppression/elevation of transmitter) (Covered in UEE40420 and UEE31225)
  • 5. Level Radar / Ultrasonic configuration (Covered in UEE40420 and UEE31225)
  • 6. Capacitance level configuration (Covered in UEE40420)
  • 7. Flow – configuration and control (Covered in UEE40420)
  • 8. Calibration of valves (Covered in UEE31225)
  • 9. Temperature (RTD / Thermocouples) (Covered in UEE31225)
  • 10. Program digital and analog PLC (Covered in UEE31225) and HMI (Covered in UEE31225). Download, test and fault find PLC program on PLC hardware and HMI (Covered in UEE40420 and UEE31225)
  • 11. Configuration of smart devices via HART Modem and Hand-Held Configurator, (Covered in UEE40420 and UEE31225)
  • 12. Reading P&ID and 2 and 4 Wire loop drawings. Verify the drawings against as installed equipment (Covered in UEE31225)
  • 13. Calibration of the field instruments; installing instruments; fault finding; tuning loops from a control system (Covered in UEE31225)
  • 14. Understanding how to test that Magnetic flow meter are operational (Covered in UEE40420 and UEE31225)

OUTCOME

Full qualification – UEE50220 Diploma of Electrical and Instrumentation

Students will be entitled to the full qualification if they hold an unrestricted electrical licence issued by a state or Territory and and are successfully competent in both theoretical and practical training for all units of competency in the training package (refer https://training.gov.au/Training/Details/UEE50220/).

Scope

This qualification provides competencies to develop, select, install, commission, maintain and diagnose faults/malfunctions on electrical, instrumentation and control equipment and systems, including problem solving in industrial networking with HMI plant interface.

Training Method

Blended delivery of 40% theory and 60% practical training with equipment that you are likely to see in a typical industrial environment in hazardous areas with HART rated instrumentation with PLC control system.

Target Workforce

This post-trade professional development gap training encourages those who hold Certificate III in Instrumentation and Control and are interested in learning or up-skilling in writing engineering specifications and problem solving skills in industrial networking with PLC with HMI interface.

Entry Requirements:

  • UEE30820 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician

or

  • a current ‘Unrestricted Electricians Licence’ or its equivalent issued in an Australian state or territory.

AND

  • It is a PMV entry requirement that participants have completed UEE40420 Certificate IV in Electrical -Instrumentation.
