OBJECTIVE

  • This competency-based training program provides ability to undertake design, install, configure, test and commission grid connected power supply systems to AS/NZS 5033:2021.
  • After obtaining the Statement of Attainment, the student can apply for the Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) for the Design & Installation of Grid-Connect PV Systems Accreditation.

Target Workforce

Electricians who have an unrestricted electrical license and wish to gain skills and qualification to design and install grid-connected photo-voltaic systems.

Entry Requirements

  • Current unrestricted electrical license issued by an Australian state or territory.

Engineers with Electrical background are eligible to be awarded Statement of Attainment for design-only units.

Training Content

You will undergo theory and hands-on practical training with qualified professional trainers who have been practicing in the PV Solar energy industry for over 30 years. The solar grid connect PV course covers the following topics:

System Design Develop skills in sizing PV arrays based on system load, select compatible components. Shading Analysis (Path Finder and Sun path diagram).

  • Inverter Selection: Gain a deep understanding Invertor technologies, how to select, size, and program inverters.

  • Installation Practices: Install systems on different types of roofs, Installation of rails, modules and DC Isolator (de-energized) and finer points of installation

  • Safety & Standards: Master safety protocols, wiring standards, and circuit protection for PV systems.

  • Maintenance: Demonstration of pre commissioning tests (Short circuit test, Insulation resistance test etc.), Commissioning and De-commissioning a system. Fault-finding on a system

A written design project is required upon completion of the theory assessment.

OUTCOME

The following units of competency will be issued to a student who successfully completed the units including its prerequisites.

CODETITLE
UEERE0054Conduct site survey for grid-connected photovoltaic and battery storage systems
UEERE0061Design grid-connected photovoltaic power supply systems
UEERE0080Install photovoltaic power conversion equipment to grid
UEERE0081Install photovoltaic systems to power conversion equipment

Engineers with Electrical background are eligible to be awarded with design-only units (UEERE0054 & UEERE0061)

Training Method

  • Blended delivery of 60% theory and 40% practical training what you are likely to see in a typical Roof Top Grid Connect PV System
  • Face to Face flexible or remote flexible delivery allows students understands and discuss the vital knowledge prior to participating in the practical component.
  • PMV Trainer marks assessment and provides feedback to the students
  • Intensive hands-on installation, fault finding and regulatory requirements experience.
