OBJECTIVE

This competency-based training program provides competencies to undertake design, install, configure, test and commission battery storage systems for grid-connected PV system to AS/NZS 5033:2021. Installation of photovoltaic (PV) arrays and AS/NZS 5139:2019 Electrical Installation – Safety of battery systems for use with power conversion equipment.

 

After obtaining the Statement of Attainment, the student can apply to the Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) for the Design & Installation of Battery Storage for Grid-Connect PV Systems Accreditation.

Target Workforce

Electricians who have an unrestricted electrical license and wish to gain skills and qualification to design and install grid-connected photo-voltaic systems.

 

Entry Requirements:

 

Engineers with Electrical background are eligible to be awarded design-only units.

Training Method

  • Blended delivery of 60% theory and 40% practical training what you are likely to see in a typical battery storage system for grid-connected PV system
  • Face to Face flexible or remote flexible delivery allows students understands and discuss the vital knowledge prior to participating in the practical component.
  • PMV Trainer marks assessment and provides feedback to the students
  • Intensive hands-on installation, fault finding and regulatory requirements experience.

The following units of competency will be issued to a student who successfully complete the units including its prerequisites.

Training Content

  • System Design: Learn to design grid-connected power systems and select compatible components.
  • Safety & Standards: Master safety protocols, wiring standards, and circuit protection for PV systems.
  • Battery & Inverter Expertise: Gain a deep understanding of battery technologies, along with how to select, size, and program inverters.
  • System Sizing: Develop skills in sizing PV arrays, battery storage, and system loads.
  • Installation & Maintenance: Learn best practices for system installation, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance.


A written design project is required upon completion of the theory assessment.
