What is Electrical Instrumentation?

Today, nearly all industries are automatised. You can find instruments in laboratories, factories, and automobiles, as well as in the everyday items you use.

The automation of the industrial processes requires:

  1. highly programmed electronic equipment to perform tasks that were once performed by humans;
  2. skilled technicians to operate, maintain, upgrade, modify, and repair these automated machines;
  3. upgrade in the skills of instrumentation and control systems with evolving technologies and standards.

Scope of Instrumentation Technicians and Engineers

In areas such as process control, oil and gas, mineral processing, food, and chemical processing, the demand for Instrumentation and Control (IC) technicians is rising. In the end, safety and process efficiency are its primary goals.

Job opportunities for Instrumentation electrician and instrumentation engineers is on rise as the industrial automation grows. Industry is screaming for skill technicians and enginers who can design, develop, install, manage and maintain field instruments and control systems that monitors and controls system.

Through its various branches, such as chemical, mechanical, and electronic, you will be able to gain a deeper understanding of all of these systems.

Through its electrical instrumentation courses and training, Project Management Vision (PMV) equips students with the knowledge and practical exposure in Instrumentation, process automation, and control. As a result of this Instrumentation and control course, you will be able to select, install, commission, troubleshoot, also maintain electrical and instrumentation equipment in properties, buildings, and instrumentation systems. An electrician’s license is included as part of the ERAC requirements.

While the electrical instrumentation courses provide training based on the current industry standards using the latest equipment and technologies, several Instrumentation courses stand out to be useful:

UEE31220 Certificate III in Instrumentation and Control: The purpose of this course is to provide students with the necessary skills for entering the oil and gas or mineral processing industries, which utilize PLCs and HART-compatible field instrumentation.

UEE40420 – Certificate IV in Electrical Instrumentation: This course aims to enhance students’ PLC and electrical instrumentation skills along with providing them with exposure to process instrumentation and control used in industry.

UEE51020 – Diploma of Instrumentation and Control Engineering: This course is designed to provide participants with skills in configuring, testing, fault finding, and analysing multiple loops connected to a live process.

UEE61521 – Advanced Diploma of Instrumentation and Control Engineering: This course aims to broaden your understanding of how to process/plant architecture is put together, along with planning and managing instrumentation and control system projects.

Observing the instrumentation industry is crucial, but it is also essential to understand how the instruments and machines work. Wonder how you can steer your career in the instrumentation industry? The answer is Project Management Vision (PMV).

Not only do PMV professionals teach practical instrumentation training on purpose-built skids reflecting site-based instrumentation and control systems, but they also teach hands-on training that instil experience and confidence. PMV trainers share their in-depth industry experience with the course participants. They contextualise the training delivery to reflect the latest AS/NZS and IEC standards and adapt it for Australian and international markets in oil, gas, mineral processing, and renewable energy.
