OBJECTIVE

To provide a pathway for electricians to be Accredited to Clean Energy Council for:

This qualification provides competencies to select, install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain electrical systems and equipment in buildings and premises.

Scope

This competency-based training program is delivered face to face theory and practical content delivery with a comprehensive note, ongoing tutor support and a practical design and installation task.

Statement of Attainment provides competencies to undertake design, install, configure, test and commission grid connected power supply systems to AS/NZS 5033:2014.

After obtaining the Statement of Attainment, the student can apply to the Clean Energy Council of Australia for Design & Installation of Grid Connected PV Systems Accreditation. The Clean Energy Council website indicates the information required to apply for Clean Energy Council Accreditation. www.solaraccreditation.com.au

It includes ERAC requirements for an ‘Electrician’s license’.

Target Workforce

This course is designed and encourages electrician who have an electrician’s qualification and wish to further improve their skills by gaining a qualification to design and install grid connected photovoltaic systems

PRE-REQUISITES

This course is a post trade training, so a current unrestricted electrical license issued by any Australian state or territory.

Electrical engineers who meet the pre-requisites will be issued with Statement of Attainment for the units they complete successfully.

Each state-specific funding may have it’s own eligibility pre-requisite requirements.

Please contact the office for more details.

OUTCOME

Full Qualification – UEE41920 Certificate IV in Electrical – Renewable Energy

Students will hold an unrestricted electrical license issued by a state or Territory and successfully prove competence in both theoretical and practical training, and complete all units of competency in the training package (refer https://training.gov.au/Training/Details/UEE41920), will receive the full

Statement of Attainment (SOA) – UEE41920 Certificate IV in Electrical – Renewable Energy

This Statement is issued to a student who has successfully completed one or more units of competency but does not meet the requirements for a full qualification (as specified in the training package) and to Graduate Electrical Engineers.

Training Content

You will undergo theory and hands on practical training with qualified professional Electricians and Engineers who have been practicing in the PV Solar energy industry for over 30 years. The solar grid connect PV course covers the following topics:

  • Shading Analysis (Path Finder and Sun path diagram)
  • Grid-Connected PV Systems Components Safety
  • Selecting and Sizing the Specified Loads
  • Assessing the Switchboard
  • Configurations of PV Grid-Connect System with Battery Storage
  • Permitted Battery and Grid Interaction and offsetting Peak Load
  • Battery Basics and Working with Batteries
  • Secondary Battery Technologies
  • Selecting and Sizing the Battery Storage and PV Array Sizing
  • System Drivers and System Constraints
  • Solar Controller and Selecting, Sizing and Programming Inverters
  • Install systems on different types of Roofs
  • Installation of rails, modules and DCI isolator (de-energized) and fine points of installation
  • Demonstration of pre-commissioning tests (Short circuit test, Insulation resistance test etc)
  • Commissioning and decommissioning a system
  • Fault Funding on a system

There is a written design project on the completion of face-to-face delivery and assessment

Training Method

Blended delivery of 60% theory and 40% practical training with equipment that you are likely to see in a typical domestic roof top grid connected PV system.

  • Face to face flexible delivery and assessments allows students understands and discuss the vital knowledge prior to participating in the practical component.
  • PMV tutors marks the assessments and provides feedback or additional technical information to the students.
  • Intensive hands-on installation, fault finding and regulatory requirements experience.
