*The practical training sessions are available for confirmed Diploma & Advanced Diploma PMV students, please contact the office for further details.
This program is classroom-based and practical assessment (optional) intended for Electrical Technicians and Engineers who have previously completed training in relation to the Installation, Maintenance and Design of electrical equipment in hazardous areas.
The course aims:
This post-trade professional development refresher course is for anyone involved in the “hands-on” side of hazardous area electrical work, i.e. the installation, maintenance or inspection of hazardous area electrical equipment. Electricians and instrument technicians are the most common attendees, but we also train electrical engineers who perform inspections as part of their role. The course covers the theory and practice of field work in hazardous areas.
PRE-REQUISITES
The course is post-trade training, so we require a current electrical license (any Australian state or territory) as a pre-requisite. Electrical Engineers who complete the inspection related units of competency marked * in the table above, will be entitled to receive the SOA. To complete refresher training, students will be required to submit a copy of their previously completed Hazardous Areas training.
Blended delivery of 90% theory and 10% practical training with equipment that you are likely to see in a typical industrial environment with electrical equipment in hazardous areas (EEHA). The course includes in-class progressive assessment; short answer tests on hazardous area fundamentals; equipment marking; equipment certification; and, device interpretation.
